The perfect eyelash yarn for Christmas Knitting Projects

Hey there, I wanted to share that I found and ordered this perfect winter/Christmas/festive sparkly eyelash yarn, Tinsel Chunky by King Cole.

It knits up on 6mm needles, and I knit up two strands together on 10mm needles to make the top of this Frozen inspired stocking for my daughter.

Frozen inspired hand knit stocking. Colours of tinsel yarn used were frozen and turquoise.

I must admit that I am not fond of knitting socks, I am a hat knitter, however I found this pattern (a two needle pattern) quite ok. The pattern that I used to knit the stocking is free from Wool and the Gang when you sign up to their newsletter or website.

I did change how I used the pattern slightly – I did not rib the top of the stocking but used plain garter stitch. You can see the pattern underneath the tinsel yarn so it was faster and easier just to work it in garter stitch.

You can see the tinsel yarn in use again here. This is a pattern from a book about stash busting, My Big and Chunky Yarn Destash.

More ideas for eyelash yarn

Eyelash yarn is perfect for use as a trim. It comes in double knit and chunky thicknesses and you could use is on cuffs to jazz up a cardigan, or use it as a brim on a hat.  It also works well as a cute trim for socks and knitted ugg style boots (check out this pattern for these mega cute newborn uggs!)

I have see some beautiful knitting patterns using just eyelash yarn, such as this baby cardigan or this cardigan for older girls.

The most famous pattern using the King Cole Chunky yarn featured in this article is for this super wonderful hedgehog. I have never actually knit this one up and really must do so!

I spotted some hedgehogs featuring eyelash yarn for sale here on Etsy. Take a look to see how cute they are!
